EIFL in Malawi

EIFL has been working in Malawi since 2001. We supported the creation of the Malawi Library and Information Consortium (MALICO) , and through this partnership, libraries in Malawi are providing access to a wide range of scholarly e-resources. EIFL agreements with publishers also allow authors in Malawi to publish in open access in hybrid or fully open access journals at waived or discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs).

EIFL supported the creation of open access repositories and journals, advocacy for open science policies and research data management training. We have also advocated for revisions to the copyright law to enable libraries to better meet the needs of their users.
