OVERVIEW

EIFL has negotiated free and discounted access to scite, a platform that helps researchers better discover and evaluate research articles through Smart Citations. Smart Citations allow users to:

Find research articles they can trust: They can see if any article, or topic has been supported or challenged by newer research.
Deepen their research area: Searching and reading Citation Statements can help them quickly and reliably build a qualitative idea of their paper or topic.
Provide a solid foundation for research: Reference Check helps prevent accidentally citing articles post-retraction.

KEY FEATURES

Advanced Search: Users can find the research articles they are interested in and understand how they are cited by others. For example, they can search for publications related to a topic like "Parkinson's Disease", filter the results based on relevant authors or journals, rank them by most supported or contrasted citations, and filter to see if any of the articles received editorial notices such as retractions. Below each result, a scite badge states how many other publications cited the research article, and how many times it was supported, mentioned, or contrasted by those citing publications.
Custom research dashboards: Users can create custom dashboards to evaluate and keep track of groups of articles or their reference manager library, such as emerging citations to trending topics and research areas. Users will get updated when a study gets supported, contrasted, or receives a new editorial notice, such as retracted or withdrawn.
Journals dashboards: Users can discover how many supporting or contrasting citations a journal has received and what is the most supported or contrasted article in that journal. Track individual research articles or set an email alert to track citations to an entire journal.
Visualizations: Users can discover and evaluate how articles cite each other through interactive scite visualizations
Reference Checking: Users can upload their paper to see if any of their references have been retracted, heavily contrasted, find missing citations, or to see how others reference the same studies.
Browser extension: The scite browser extension allows users to see Smart Citations anywhere they are reading research articles online.
Alerts: Help users stay up to date by receiving email alerts whenever their research gets cited.
Institutional dashboards: University and library staff can use institutional dashboards to see:
- how articles by authors in their institution have been cited,
- how many supporting or contrasting citations their institution has received,
- the most supported or contrasted article from their institution.
They can also compare their citations against other institutions to examine how work from their institution is being cited over time.
Zotero Plug-In, browser extension, data exports and an API allows integration with workflows.
