EIFL in Serbia

EIFL has been working in Serbia  since 1999. We supported the creation of the Serbian Library Consortium for Coordinated Acquisition (KoBSON),  and through this partnership, libraries in Serbia are providing access to a wide range of scholarly e-resources. EIFL agreements with publishers also allow authors in Serbia to publish in open access in hybrid or fully open access journals at waived or discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs).

EIFL-supported national and institutional open access awareness raising, advocacy and policy development workshops resulted in the launch of an open access journals portal, and improved open access publishing policies and practices. We also supported the launch of a national open access portal for PhD theses and dissertations. The portal makes theses and dissertations openly available, easily citable (with DOIs) and searchable.

EIFL has provided training and a support service to raise awareness of library copyright issues, and to assist with copyright questions.

EIFL’s engagement with public libraries in Serbia has led to the creation of innovative pilot projects that are helping libraries to meet the information and skills needs of their communities.
