EIFL in Senegal

EIFL has been working in Senegal since 2003. We supported the creation of the Consortium des Bibliothèques de l’Enseignement Supérieur du Sénégal (COBESS), and through this partnership, libraries in Senegal are providing access to a wide-range of scholarly e-resources. EIFL agreements with publishers also allow authors in Senegal to publish in open access in hybrid or fully open access journals at waived or discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs).

Libraries in Senegal also benefit from EIFL programmes on open access and copyright.

EIFL has supported open access awareness raising and advocacy workshops that have resulted in the launch of open access repositories.

We also advocate for copyright law reform to benefit libraries, education, research and persons with disabilities, and for ratification by Senegal of the Marrakesh Treaty for persons with print disabilities. As a result, awareness of the issues is high, and  COBESS actively engages with policy-makers as stakeholders in national copyright debates.
